Seen any good examples of strategic management?

On the upcoming exam I ask you to identify a company that demonstrates poor strategic management. Let's look at the opposite. Can you think of a company/organization or person that exemplifies good strategic management? Why do you feel that way?

  1. An example of good strategic management would be Target stores. They have managed to arrange them all the same, so once you know your way around your local store, you know your way around every other store.

This is helpful for staff because they can just train new hires all at one location, reducing the cost of this process. They can also ask for relocation within the company and smooth their transition.

For customers, it is very helpful because it makes a run into such a large store as these into a quick one, in which they can go and find exactly what they want without wandering around, loosing time.

  2. And they compete quite well with Walmart. Nice insight.

  3. As I am gradauting in May I have been looking at what Hospitality Organization I would like to joing and I have found Marriott to be the best especially within their company values and the way they strategically manage their company.

They have a great program to attract graduates to start not just a job but a career. They are very innovative and the way they persuade everyone interested in their company. They have persuaded me enough to joing them.

They are strategic in the way they position themselves as a company which makes it seem better then any other.

  4. Jetblue is awesome. In a time where most people feel that airlines only care about customer's money, Jetblue goes far and beyond to put the customer and their needs first.

All standards flights offer individual televisions with 36 channels and new movie releases, XM radio, extra legroom, free unlimited snacks/drinks and your first checked bag is free.

From personal experience, their customer service is remarkable and they're always willing (and happy!) to help.

In 2012, they will introduce broadband wireless internet.

In October 2010, Jetblue introduced a marketing campaign, You Above All. "You Above All is designed to shine a light on the airline's key competitive differences and to celebrate its crewmembers' long-standing efforts to provide a superior travel experience."

Below are some links to the You Above All videos (they're pretty funny):
