As you go through the toils of another week, perhaps at some point you will come across something that we discussed in class over the past several months. It might have been an interesting business you saw or something in the news that was of interest to you.
Take a moment to post your findings on the blog this week.
Have a great week and keep on blogging.
In class two days ago we were talking about the forces that are beyond our control that we will have to encounter in our future as professionals, whether we decide to work in hospitality or not.
ReplyDeleteI was browsing the news on the internet when I say a headline that insinuated that all the airport hotels in Cairo, Egypt are working on 100% occupancy rate due to the protests againts the current president there. Not only the hotels are packed, but the airport itself is mayhem. There are endless lines; all flights are delayed, and there is even a shortage of food and drinks in the cafeteria as tourists and locals try to leave.
This just serves to show that there is never assurance that everything will run smoothly in the short-term future. This presidency has been oppresing Egyptians for thirty years, and in an instant it became the conflict that appears on newpapers everywhere.
A couple classes ago we talked about airports and how everything is changing, like the prices and security. i came across an article which was interesting about what airlines do with lost luggage. They wait about 90 days to see if they find the owner or anyone comes to claim the lost items. If no one comes then they take it to a store where they will sell everything at a cheaper price. Similar to a Ross, they have just about everything there, wedding dresses, diamond rings, purses, cameras, anything that you can think of is found there.
ReplyDeleteI think this is very interesting because airlines are really finding every way to make more money, if it’s not charging us for every single thing; they are now selling our lost items!
